Mylo's Amazing Pet Session
Meet Mylo, a charming miniature schnauzer with a personality as big as his heart!
Mylo's mom initially felt uncertain about booking a photoshoot. You see, Mylo is a lively guy who doesn't always stay put, and new people can make him a little anxious.
It's understandable for pet parents to have these concerns – we all want our furry friends to be comfortable and happy.
However, as a pet photographer, my goal is always to create a relaxed and enjoyable environment for every dog and its family. And I'm thrilled to share that despite initial hesitations, Mylo, his mom, and I had a fantastic time!
Mylo seemed to come out of his shell and enjoy every moment, proving that even the most spirited pups can be stars of a dog photoshoot.

New Spot for Dog Photography
Every so often, you stumble upon a location that clicks, and for me, that's Alexander Muir Gardens in Toronto.
This stunning spot has quickly become my absolute go-to for dog photography in Toronto and family portrait sessions. It offers such a unique blend of natural beauty and versatile backdrops, making it ideal for creating truly memorable pet portraits.
Discovering new places that enhance the overall photoshoot experience is always exciting, and Alexander Muir Gardens has certainly exceeded all expectations.
It offers a peaceful retreat right within the bustling city, allowing for moments of calm and joy to be captured.

Gardens Shine for Pet Portraits
What makes Alexander Muir Gardens such a gem for a dog photoshoot and for capturing beautiful pet portraits? Let me tell you all the reasons why this location has stolen my heart and become a favourite for pet photography in Toronto:
- Natural Beauty: The gardens are famous for their vibrant, ever-changing floral displays. Whether it's the explosion of colours in spring or the rich, warm tones of autumn, the blooms provide a naturally picturesque setting. These living backdrops add a timeless charm and a burst of natural energy to every photo. Imagine your beloved dog surrounded by fields of bright flowers – it's simply breathtaking and makes for incredibly artistic and natural pet portraits.
- Versatile Backdrops: Beyond the flowers, Alexander Muir Gardens offers a variety of architectural features that are perfect for framing subjects. Think elegant arches, classic pergolas, and stately stone staircases. These elements can be used to add depth, dimension, and a touch of timeless elegance to your photos. They provide wonderful opportunities for both candid shots and more posed pet portraits, allowing for a diverse range of images from a single portrait session.
- Amazing Natural Light: Good lighting is crucial for stunning photography, and these gardens deliver! They offer excellent natural light throughout the day, but nothing quite compares to the "golden hour" – that magical time just after sunrise or before sunset. During this period, the light becomes soft, warm, and utterly enchanting, casting a beautiful glow that enhances every detail and creates truly ethereal pet portraits. It's the kind of light that makes even a simple moment look extraordinary.
- Relaxed Atmosphere: One of the biggest advantages of Alexander Muir Gardens is its peaceful and serene ambiance. It's a place where families and their pets can truly relax and enjoy themselves. This relaxed atmosphere is key to capturing those genuine, candid moments – the playful interactions, the loving glances, and the true personality of your pet. When everyone feels comfortable, the photos reflect that authentic joy and connection, resulting in very natural and heartfelt pet portraits.
- Convenient Toronto Access: Situated in the North York area, the gardens are surprisingly accessible. This central location makes it easy for clients coming from various surrounding areas, including Etobicoke, Mississauga, and Burlington, to reach the photoshoot site without a long, stressful drive. Ease of access is always a bonus, especially when you have a pet in tow, and it helps make the portrait session stress-free from the moment you arrive.
- Accessible Parking: Speaking of convenience, ample parking is available right at the gardens. This might seem like a small detail, but it makes a huge difference! No struggling to find a spot or walking long distances with your pet and any necessary gear. Easy accessibility means a smoother start and end to your dog photoshoot, ensuring a positive experience from beginning to end.

Mylo's Joyful Dog Photoshoot
Making sure every dog feels comfortable and enjoys their portrait session is my top priority as a dog photographer.
For Mylo, knowing his mom's concerns, I came prepared with a bag full of tricks – literally! I brought a variety of irresistible treats that he loved, and we made sure to incorporate plenty of playtime throughout our time together.
We chased balls, explored new smells, and generally let Mylo be Mylo. This blend of structured moments and free-play not only helped Mylo relax and show his true, happy self, but it also allowed me to capture his energetic personality in a natural way.
Watching Mylo romp around, his tail wagging, and seeing the joy on his mom's face as she interacted with him was incredibly rewarding.
By the end of our dog photoshoot, Mylo was happily worn out – a sure sign of a successful and fun session! He was ready to curl up and snooze, proof that even a high-energy dog can have an amazing and positive experience with a professional dog photographer.

Preserve Pet Memories: Artwork
The goal of every pet photography session is to create lasting memories.
After seeing the beautiful images from their portrait session, Mylo's mom decided to invest in a stunning storyboard artwork.
This isn't just a single photo; it's a carefully curated collection of images that tell Mylo's story from our day together.
A storyboard is a fantastic way to display a variety of emotions and moments, creating a cohesive piece of art that truly celebrates your pet.
It transforms favourite photos into a cherished keepsake, allowing Mylo's playful spirit and the bond he shares with his mom to be beautifully preserved and admired every day. It's more than just a picture; it's a piece of art that brings joy and warmth to any home.
